Your voice is needed to prevent puppy mill cruelty in Canton!

This Thursday, March 16, your Canton City Council will vote on an ordinance to prevent puppy mill cruelty by prohibiting pet stores from selling puppies and kittens.

Under this proposal, pet stores would be required to provide adoptable animals from your local shelter and rescue groups.

If enacted, this ordinance would be the first of its kind in the state of Georgia, and Canton would join 222 local governments across the country who have passed similar prohibitions.

But, puppy mills are attempting to stop this ordinance.

What can you do?

Below are some talking points you may wish to use:

As a resident of Canton, I want to thank the City Council for introducing an ordinance to prevent retail pet stores from selling puppies and kittens in our city. Pets sold in retail pet stores often come from puppy mills where their parents endure lives of confinement and misery. This proposal will help prevent puppy mill cruelty and help homeless pets in our community. I couldn’t be more proud of Canton and of our city officials for promoting this ordinance. Please support this ordinance when it comes before the City Council on March 16. Thank you!
